Exploring the St. Croix River Valley: Adventures On and Off the Water
I’m thrilled to announce that Angie Hong, our Square Lake Association friend, Square Lake Conservancy Co-Founder, and Washington Conservation District Water Education Specialist https://www.mnwcd.org/angie-hong is writing a book, with UMN Press, that’s scheduled for publication this May/June: Exploring the St. Croix River Valley - Adventures on and off the Water.
According to Angie, “The book borrows from articles that I've written for local newspapers over the past 18 years, repackaged and combined with new stories to become a full-length nature guide for our region. It includes recommended destinations, conservation stewardship stories, and environmental history as well. I mention this all to you because I included Square Lake as a recommended lake to visit in the region (of course - because it's the best lake!).
In the Square Lake chapter, I highlighted the unexpected impacts of previous trout-stocking and some of the ways that the lake association and watershed district have worked together to protect Square Lake's famously clean, clear water.”
Congratulations, commendations, and cheers to Angie for this extraordinary accomplishment. I’ve already ordered 10 books to share with friends and family. Please be encouraged to support Angie, by also ordering books to share with your Square Lake friends.
